De-stress

For my own sanity, for my own mental well-being, I’ve had to operate differently nowadays.

In order to stay calm, in order to ease my anxiety and stress, I’ve made a conscious effort to do the following:

  • Turn off the news
  • Put my phone away
  • Read — mostly inspirational books
  • Write
  • Exercise

These are the main things that have helped me. I allow myself limited news now, I allot a limited amount of time for updates and social media, I am focusing my energy on what nourishes my soul–on self-care.

It is very easy to stay connected, to scroll endlessly, to click on every story–positive and negative. It’s easy, but it’s not necessarily good for us.

A few friends and I have talked about what we’ve had to do to help ease the burden of our circumstances, and to help ease the increased level of stress on us and around us. It takes effort, but it’s worth it.

If you have any other big ideas or personal insights, please share them, the more we can do to help ourselves, the more we can help others.
